The West Texas Roller Dollz League (WTRD) is a charity and community focused sports organization. WTRD is comprised of a diverse group or strong-minded, strong-spirited, and strongly skilled women who love the sport of Flat Track Roller Derby and are determined to see it take a permanent hold in Lubbock. Our vision is to deliver a powerful and positive image to the South Plains community. Our mission is to:

“… to provide athletic opportunities for women and recreational entertainment for the community while perpetuating the popularity of women’s flat track roller derby and the integrity of the league.”

The West Texas Roller Dollz formed in September 2007 and we first hit the track in October 2007. We are proud members of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association. We currently have a Travel Team and a B Team known as the Rumbleweeds. Our teams offer our community even greater sports interaction and involvement.

WTRD is a skater owned and operated league. Although our skaters pay monthly dues to participate, WTRD relies heavily on sponsorship from companies like yours to provide affordable entertainment to the Lubbock community. We welcome direct sponsorship or in-kind trade opportunities to defray skater and league expenses. We enjoy partnering with local businesses which contributes even more to our active community involvement.

WTRD sponsors are handpicked by our league’s governing body, and we strive to select companies that fit our image of strength, positivity, athleticism, and community. All WTRD sponsors will be in select company when featured at bouts, on the web, in print, and in conjunction with promotional events and materials.

WTRD hosted events are extremely fun, well promoted, and very well organized. Our fans include a large cross section of people in the Lubbock and South Plains area. You can find a diverse group of men, women, and children…. families… college students… professionals… and more. As a part of our grass-roots community involvement, our league shares the spotlight with our favorite charities by donating our time and a portion of our bout proceeds.

As the only flat track roller derby league in Lubbock, the West Texas Roller Dollz are poised to make a huge impact on the South Plains. Roller derby is currently the fastest growing sport in the United States with nearly 700 leagues currently in operation nationwide. Bouting events are selling out consistently throughout the Southwest. We are currently in our fourth year and our fan base continues to grow. The WTRD had an incredible expo season seeing almost 2000 fans at their first home bout. Lubbock and all of West Texas have fallen in love with their Dollz and we only expect our presence to grow.
