Texas-Sized Double Header
January 21st, 2009The West Texas Roller Dollz, members of Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, proudly present a Texas-sized Roller Derby Double Header. It will be a day of derby fun as teams from Austin and Canyon, TX venture to Lubbock to challenge WTRD. First to hit the track and dragging you to the edge of your seat, will be the ladies of the Randall County Roller Dames taking on the West Texas Roller Dollz B Team. Then stick around as things really heat up with the infamous Austin Texecutioners, ranked 4th in the nation, challenging the 33rd ranked West Texas Roller Dollz Travel Team.
It will be a battle till the end, leaving you craving more derby madness.
WTRD is a family friendly group and encourage all ages to attend this public event. The Dollz have restructured their venue schedule and this bout will be played at their practice facility, Southwest Sportsplex, instead of their normal bout home, Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door (children under 12 free). Tickets can be purchased by contacting any Roller Doll or calling 806-891-9196. Tickets will be available at the door until sell out. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Buckner Children’s Home of Lubbock.
The West Texas Roller Dollz are currently recruiting to fill skater, coaches, referees, and volunteer positions. WTRD offers recreational skaters the ability to attend practices without a league commitment for $6.00 per practice. There will be an after party following the main event at Jake’s Sports Café (5025 50th) where fans can meet and mingle with their favorite derby girls.
